“Valley Girl” … the musical? Like, totally! A musical Valley Girl remake of the 1983 cult comedy is currently in the works, which may or may not be a good thing.

“Shrek: The Musical” director Jason Moore will develop the Valley Girl musical movie, with an updated screenplay based on the original that starred Nicolas Cage and Deborah Foreman.

With a 1980s punk/new wave scene as the backdrop, Valley Girl the musical might just work, with buzz that it willl be in the vein of “Romeo and Juliet.”

Jason Moore has also directed “Steel Magnolias” and “Avenue Q” on Broadway. “Valley Girl” the musical will be his feature debut.
