Remember the 80s superhero drama/comedy The Greatest American Hero? Creator Stephen J. Cannell has confirmed that a Greatest American Hero movie based on the TV series is in the works. Check out the video clip of the cheesy theme song above!

According to Cannell, “We’ve written a screenplay, and we’ve hired a director, and we’re in the midst of putting this together for the future.”

While Cannell didn’t confirm the director for The Greatest American Hero, it’s rumored that Stephen Herek, who directed Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Critters, may helm the TV to big screen remake.

Original Greatest American Hero cast members Connie Sellecca, William Katt and Robert Culp are expected to appear in the big screen version.

No casting details have yet been revealed.
