Whoever said Twilight should be on this list is an utter fool. The movie is decent enough, but Popcorn-emo type vampire movies don't even deserve a mention on top 70 list, let alone a top 15.

Oh, and another minor bitch if ya don't mind. Aside from the fact that Near Dark is woefully low on this list, the fact that no mention is made of Lance Henriksen's Jesse and--especially--Bill Paxton's Severen is inexcusable. Again, mention Pasdar because he's a name now (long overdue, to his credit) and the kiddies know him as the guy from Heroes, and ignore the fact that his character, though he may be the central figure in a manner of speaking, takes a backseat to Lance and Bill in every scene they share. Tell me Bill Paxton doesn't make that movie and I'll tell you we didn't see the same film.

I know debating the content of a list on the internet is one of the more futile activities known to man, but this list is just all kinds of bad. The order is all wrong, many of the films included have no business being on a top ten list of anything, and the omission of certain classics is unforgivable and goes quite a way toward showing the aptitude of the composer.

Here's a quick rundown: Underworld is a forgettable and alltogether useless film. Blade, while fun, doesn't belong on a top ten list of films made about Marvel properties, let alone a list of vampire films. Interview with a Vampire is overacted melodrama, just like the source material is overwritten dreck. Buffy is camp fun, but lacks the resonance to an era that makes The Lost Boys a classic of sorts. I could abide 30 Days of Night and Vampires simply because I think they're fun films and I'm biased, but they'd be low men on the totem pole.

The inclusion of Dracula and Nosferatu on this list is a means through which the author appeals to purists. They're names of films that big critics and historians say are relevant, so the reviewer agrees. Seeing those films isn't even necessary for the listmaker, and I'm sure our list-man hasn't, because having them on the list is enough to make someone nod their head in agreement and validate their little number.

The exclusion of Herzog's Nosferatu, Let the Right One In, The Hunger, Dreyer's Vampyr, Cronos, any one of Lee's Hammer Film portrayals of Dracula, Martin, The Addiction, Mark of the Vampire, and/or the lesser known '79 BBC adaptation of Dracula gives the vibe that the writer hasn't really seen enough good vampire cinema to qualify for writing this list. Hell, I think The Night Flier, Lifeforce, and Rabid (loosely qualifies as vampiric) are better suited for a list than Underworld, Buffy, and Blade.

Again, this is all pissing in the wind, but I shouldn't be too surprised to find quality lacking in a list geared toward the same idiots who would cry for the inclusion of something as insufferable as Twilight on a list with real film classics directed by real talents (Murnau, Browning) based upon a real literary classic--one not featuring useless-but-pretty Mary Sue characters, instead better known for being historically relevant and well-written literaure not conjured up in the tiny brain of a dim-witted hack. Whew. That was a mouthful. Off my soapbox now. Wait, where was I? Oh yeah. Weak list, in short.

I have to side with those on here that call for "Let the Right One In" to be inserted into this list (somewhere in the top three IMHO). Many of these depend on how old you were when you first saw them. If I saw "The Lost Boys" in my thirties it may not have appealed to me the way it does. I think that is way I didn't care for "Twilght" as much as many do. 15-20 years ago I prolly would've loved it. Getting back to my original point tho, LTROI is the most original take on the vampire genre in a long time, while at the same time it sticks to most of the original mythos.

I thought The Lost boys deserved a much higher rating. Same for Fright Night.
Was I the only one who noticed similarities between From Dusk to Dawn and the 80's camp movie, Vamp?
They both take place in strip joints, the place is completely inhabited by vampires, it's got comedy mixed in with horror, there's only two survivors, and the head stripper, who ( like Hayak) doesn't actually strip.
Was I the only onewho noticed these similarities??

I actually liked the Underworld trilogy, it's true that the action is sometimes too exagerated, but the movies include werewolves, old vs. younger vampires, lineage, love, and revenge stories.

Also, what would really make a good vampire movie is if one was based on the World of Darkness (WoD) role playing universe, although very complex and difficult to do IMO, it could really make an epic movie.

Also, please, Twilight and its sparkling vampires is NOT a vampire movie, it's a joke and disgrace to the vampire mythology...
