Spider-Man 4 and 5 Sequels Planned; Tobey Maguire to Star, Sam Raimi to Direct

Sounds like the power team of actor Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi will be back for Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 sequels. The pair are currently in talks with Sony to make the next two installments of the popular comic book franchise.
This puts to rest the rumors that another actor would play the role of Spider-Man in upcoming sequels.
A studio spokesman commented, “The studio never considered any other actor. Tobey [Maguire] was our only choice and the only person we’ve discussed the role with.”
Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 will likely shoot back-to-back starting in fall 2009, with a release date in May 2011 for Spider-Man 4.

Im not sure if I want to see another Spider-Man film. I mean Spider-Man 3 was a real disappointment. It was a big let down compared to Spider-Man 2. I hope they really focus on the story this time around and pay attention to the comics. I hope the Lizard or Carnage is in the next one. Cool blog, I can see myself coming here often.

Please…enough with the Spidey movies. They need to let the franchise rest for a few years before starting up again. I would love to see Spidey crossover into other Marvel movies though.
If ever they really want to do a Spidey movie, maybe they can take a page out of DC’s Kingdom Come series and show us an older Spidey with different troubles. But of course they won’t do this since it’s not the target market. Ayayayay! No more Spidey for now.
