Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel Joins Cast of The Last Airbender

Now that “Slumdog Millionaire” is running away with every award, it’s only logical that Slumdog star Dev Patel will be in hot demand. Dev Patel has just joined the cast of M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender,” a live action film based on the Nickelodeon aninmated series.
Dev Patel is taking over the role of Zuko – Jesse McCartney was originally supposed to play the part, but had to pull out of the project because of his schedule.
Shyamalan says that Patel was “already one of the guys I was interested in. Then I saw ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ and the kid just grew in my eyes.”
The Last Airbender will be in theaters July 2, 2010.
