Russell Brand to Star in Drop Dead Fred Remake

I don’t know anyone who’s exactly begging for a “Drop Dead Fred” remake, but Universal is bringing it back with Russell Brand set to star as Fred. I guess I could see that.
“Land of the Lost” writer Dennis McNicholas will pen the “Drop Dead Fred Remake.”
Drop Dead Fred was a 1991 film starring Phoebe Cates who’s reunited with her imaginary friend Fred from childhood (Rik Mayall) after she loses her job and her husband. His attempts at helping cause more trouble than good. Hilarity ensues.
The updated Drop Dead Fred is rumored to be in the vein of “Beetlejuice.”
