While you might not hear about them, there are a LOT more filmmakers in the United States alone than you might realize. Something I read the other day said “150,000″, but I’m not even sure that that was a complete count. And then there are all the filmmakers in other countries.
If you are, like myself, interested in becoming a filmmaker, that’s a lot of competition that you’ll have. But there’s such a huge demand for video content online that you might consider this option instead of theatrical releases. In fact, it’s possible you’ll make more income on average, if you approach it the right way.
Venture Beat has a list of about 19 video sharing websites, some of which you can make money from if you are a content creator. Check out the list.
Another possibility is to harness torrent sites tied to a payment system such as PayPal - a setup that I’ll try to discuss in the near future.
