Rachelle Lefevre vs. Summit Entertainment on Twilight Eclipse Firing (Video)
Just why did Rachelle Lefevre get fired from Twilight: Eclipse? Scheduling conflicts were cited, but Lefevre says in a statement that she was “stunned” and “greatly saddened” by the recasting decision (Bryce Dallas Howard is to take over the role of Victoria).
In this E! video clip, we get both sides of the story, in what seems like Summit making much ado about a 10 day scheduling overlap.
According to Summit Rachelle Lefevre didn’t tell them of the scheduling conflict for an indie film until July 20… but she knew about it in June.
Summit issued this statement:
“We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.
It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to Barney’s Version, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.
Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least 10 days of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.
The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project—which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment—makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in [Eclipse].”
Rachelle Lefevre commented, “Never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap.”

Honestly, by NO means is this good film making. Rachelle did not break her contract with summit. She did what the contract allowed. She accepted a small role, that would only take ten days to shoot. Out of three months for Eclipse. USE YOUR HEADS PEOPLE!!!! ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!! If you have this big of a following….you try and please that following, you make sure whatever you are doing is good. Summit should not have fired Rachelle, if they had used their realistic part of their mind, they would have known to work it out. To sit down, and figure something out, so that Rachelle could keep her part. Replacing someone that has already done the first two movies and the third being their last IS NOT GOOD FILM MAKING!!! Summit was to hasty to fire her. And When you look at it, Rob and Kristen have been the main characters in other movies while shooting, Rachelle will be playing a SMALL part in her other movie. This is just not right, and just not good film making. If you want to make the fans happy, and increase the following, do not do this. Because it is stupid.

I think this is completely shitty…news flash: fans don’t like when characters are recast in the middle of a series of movies!!!!! are you retarded? who is this howard chick anyway? I’ve never seen her in anything decent but she’s just dying to hop onto the Twilight franchise and ride Rachelle’s coatails into some unwarrented fame. Rachelle will always be Victoria in my mind when I read the books AND when I watch the movie….you screwed up Summit……burn in hell
