Poltergeist Remake Planned

I can still distinctly remember how Poltergeist scared the ever-lovin… well, it was scary, let’s just say that. And now MGM has announced a remake of 1982’s Poltergeist.
Writers have been hired for the Poltergeist remake, but a director and cast are not yet attached to the project.
Steven Spielberg co-wrote the original Poltergeist script; the film starred Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Dominique Dunne and Heather O’Rourke.
Is this a good idea? Can a horror movie remake of Poltergeist succeed? And what about the Poltergeist Curse? You may recall that both Heather O’Rourke and Dominique Dunne died after the film was released, and Will Sampson, who starred in the sequel, died a year after its release.
