Paul Newman dead of cancer at age 83
News broke this morning that legendary actor Paul Newman is dead at age 83. Paul Newman lost his battle with cancer and died Friday at age 83.

While no other details are yet known, Paul Newman’s spokeswoman Marni Tomljanovic did confirm that Newman died Friday from cancer.

Among Paul Newman’s many accomplishments were nominations for 10 Academy Awards, including a win for the 1987 film “The Color of Money.” Newman also picked up two honorary Oscars for his film career.

Paul Newman was also known as a philanthropist, race car driver and activist. His film credits include “Hud,” “Cool Hand Luke,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Hustler,” “The Verdict,” “The Sting,” “Absence of Malice,” “Road to Perdition” and Pixar’s “Cars.”

Paul Newman had long been rumored to be battling cancer, and died Friday at his farmhouse near Westport, Connecticut with family and close friends nearby.
