Count me among the many millions of Muppet fans — as a kid, I was slightly obsessed with all things Muppet. Heck, as an adult, I asked (and received) several Muppet DVDs for Christmas! So, this is exciting… a new Muppet movie is in the works from Jason Segal.

Jason Segal, who can currently be seen in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” (as well as on TV’s “How I Met Your Mother”) is working with “Sarah Marshall” director Nick Stoller to bring the next great Muppet tale to the big screen.

Variety is reporting that Jason Segel and Nick Stoller have made the deal with Disney to create the newest Musppet movie. Both will develop the script, Stoller will direct.

So how did this all come about? While working on “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” the script called for puppets for an all-puppet Dracula musical (this I’ve got to see!). Jason Segal worked with the Jim Henson Creature Shop on the puppets — which inspired him to pitch his concept to Disney for a new Muppet movie.
