It was touch and go there for filmmaker Kevin Smith and his upcoming film “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” - the director was fighting for an R rating after the Motion Picture Association of America wanted to slap it with an NC-17. Kevin Smith comes out a winner though - as he won an appeal to lower the rating for “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” to an R.
The Motion Picture Association of America revised the rating after the group’s appeals board viewed the movie.
Kevin Smith told the Associated Press,”We didn’t set out to make an NC-17 film. That’s just commercial suicide.”
“Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, will hit theaters October 31.The R rating ensures that more people will be able to see it as an NC-17 prohibits anyone under 17 from seeing it.
