Jackie Chan will take on the role of a Mr. Miyagi type of mentor in the new Karate Kid remake, starring Jaden Smith (Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s son). Jackie Chan is in final negotiations to join the cast.

The Karate Kid update will follow a similar storyline, with Jackie Chan to play mentor to a bullied kid.

Karate Kid begins filming this summer in Beijing.
