Is Tom Cruise a Loon? Tom Cruise Appears in Scientology Video

January 16th, 2008 · 3 Comments · Tagged as Actors · Tom Cruise

Several sites have posted articles about an internal Scientology video featuring Tom Cruise talking about “their” importance and how it’s a privilege to be called a Scientologist. Of course, take-down orders mean that the videos may or may not be available. But I did manage to see one on Google Video and I seriously thought it was a comedy. If it’s not, I’m disappointed to say that Tom Cruise is a total loon.

On the video, Cruise talks about how a Scientologist passing a car accident would know what to do, implying that no one else would stop, let alone know what to do if they did stop. Watching this video, it’s easy to believe that Katie Holmes has become a Stepford Wife.

What disappoints me is that I’ve seen pretty much every movie he’s ever made, up until he started becoming vocal about Scientology. He used to be one of my favorite actors, and now I’m not so sure I’d watch him for free on TV. (It’s not so much that he’s a Scientologist, as I knew that long before, but rather that he just comes across as a loon.) I certainly won’t pay to see him in the Nazi flick Valkyrie, which has been delayed. Cruise will also be in Tropic Thunder and Men in 2008, and Hardy Men in 2009. He’s also producing Death Race, Pinkville, Something Borrowed, and Winter Hill Gang all in 2008.

You can see part of the Scientology video in the Australian newscast clip below. Pay attention to what Cruise thinks of non-Scientologists. And Will Smith still wants us to believe that Scientology is 98% like Christianity? What I don’t get is why an internal video would use Mission Impossible-like music in the background. So there’s still a small part of me thinking this is a complete joke video. (The second video below is from the same Australian show from the week before, discussing both the unauthorized biography of Cruise by Andrew Morton, as well as an interview with Bruce Hines a former Scientology “auditor” who interviewed Nicole Kidman when she joined the Church.)
