With this momentum, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is expected to be the second biggest Memorial Day movie opening, according to studio estimates.
Here’s how it breaks down: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull grossed $101 million from Friday to Sunday, with an additional $25 million from its Thursday opening. It’s expected to pull in an additional $25 million on Monday.
So, who’s the top box office champ? Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End snagged $139.8 million for its Friday through Monday Memorial Day weekend opening; $153 million with the Thursday prior included.
Runners-up at the 2008 Memorial Day weekend box office include “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” and “Iron Man.”
