The news of a Donnie Darko sequel seems like blasphemy to some hardcore fans of the cult classic starring Jake Gyllenhaal. But Donnie Darko 2, titled S. Darko, is set to begin filming on May 18.

Daviegh Chase will return as Donnie’s younger sister (Samantha Darko), while Ed Westwick (Gossip Girls’ Chuck Bass), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2) and Justin Chatwin (Dragon Ball) have also joined the cast.

S. Darko will pick up the story seven years after the first Donnie Darko film, following Samantha Darko (now 18) and friend Corey on a roadtrip to Los Angeles. The pair will have their share of bizarre visions while on the road.
