Also his mere appearance creates 'abject terror" and drives men insane which does not occur to the characters who see the creature in the movie. There is no injunction on saying Cthulhu once or thrice. In the Cthulhu Mythos "He who should not be named" is Hastur. Personaly the creatures in Cloverfield brought the Bugs from Starship Troopers to mind more than anything. The monster in Cloverfeild is definately not Cthulhu as it does not match his desription.
