Christmas day means presents and Santa Claus to some – but it means new movie releases for many. Check out these movies, opening Christmas Day, December 25, 2008: Bedtime Stories, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Marley & Me, The Spirit and Valkyrie.
Bedtime Stories
Adam Sandler stars in this kid friendly Disney flick – the most suitable for taking the family out to see during the Christmas holiday break. Early reviews for Bedtime Stories are mixed, but as the only light-hearted comedy of the holiday movie bunch, it’ll likely do well with audiences looking for a laugh.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is earning Oscar buzz for Brad Pitt – but can he live up to the hype, and will audiences be interested in seeing David Fincher’s latest bizarro film? Early reviews for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button are favorable – one of the best reviewed of the holiday movie releases.
Marley & Me
No doubt Marley & Me will fill the theaters during the holiday – based on the best selling book and starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson gives Marley a decent pedigree. Of course, there are those pesky little Marley & Me spoilers making the rounds that may steer people to a different holiday flick.
The Spirit
Will Frank Miller’s The Spirit have comic book fans lining up to see it on the big screen? Early reviews are suck-ish, but the powerhouse talent of Samuel Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes, among others, with the cool look of Sin City should make The Spirit a hit.
Valkyrie
The much hyped Tom Cruise historical drama, Valkyrie, finally hits theaters Christmas Day. But will Valkyrie live up the hype? Early reviews of Tom Cruise’s performance were not kind, but audiences may be too dazzled by Tom Cruise’s star power to care.
Other films to check out on Christmas Day are Frost/Nixon and Doubt, which have played in limited release but now hit in more cities.
