Check out the trailer video for “Brothers,” starring Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal. Brothers opens in theaters December 4, and tells the story of a decorated Marine (Maguire) who goes missing and is presumed dead while his younger brother (Gyllenhaal) takes care of the wife and kids.

Maguire’s character, Sam, was captured but returns home and becomes suspicious that his wife and brother may have slept together. Definitely not a feel-good holiday movie.

Spider-Man 4 and 5 Sequels Planned; Tobey Maguire to Star, Sam Raimi to Direct

Sounds like the power team of actor Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi will be back for Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 sequels. The pair are currently in talks with Sony to make the next two installments of the popular comic book franchise.

This puts to rest the rumors that another actor would play the role of Spider-Man in upcoming sequels.

A studio spokesman commented, “The studio never considered any other actor. Tobey [Maguire] was our only choice and the only person we’ve discussed the role with.”

Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 will likely shoot back-to-back starting in fall 2009, with a release date in May 2011 for Spider-Man 4.

Fans of the Spider-Man franchise have quite a wait ahead of them for the fourth installment of the web-slinger: Spider-Man 4 is expected to arrive in theaters in May 2011.

Still up in the air is the casting for Spider-Man 4 – will Tobey Maguire return to the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man? Or will another actor (Patrick Fugit, Michael Angarano) take on the part?

At present, there is no finished screenplay, but rather a strong hope that Spider-Man 4 could be completed in the next three years.

Patrick Fugit Rumored to Take on Spider-Man, Replace Tobey Maguire

Spider-Man 4 and 5 are rumored to be in the works, however, it’s being reported that Tobey Maguire will likely not return for additional installments of Spider-Man. Who will replace Tobey Maguire? Almost Famous star Patrick Fugit is the rumored golden boy that would play Peter Parker/Spider Man, although no offers have yet been made.

Patrick Fugit has also been in Spun and Wristcutters. Do you think he could take on Peter Parker/Spider Man? He certainly has the right look and is a good actor, so this seems like an ideal choice.

The Spider-Man producers are also rumored to be considering Michael Angarano, who has appeared in Lords of Dogtown, Sky High and The Forbidden Kingdom. To me, he’ll always be Jack’s son on Will & Grace. Michael Angarano played the younger version of Tobey Maguire’s character, Red Pollard, in Seabiscuit.

Then again, many are guessing/hoping that the allure of the big bucks will bring Tobey Maguire back to the role. Time will tell.
