Scarlett Johansson as Tom Waits, Tom Waits as Actor, Johnny Depp Replaces Heath Ledger?

Scarlett Johansson isn’t just a talented actress, she’s also a singer with a beautiful voice. Her debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, comes out May 20th. Except there’s only one original track. The other ten songs are covers of Tom Waits songs. But if you listen to her great lounge singer voice in the video clip below, and if you are familiar with Tom Waits, I think you’ll agree that her voice is ideal as any for Tom Waits covers.

Johansson was recently asked by Courtney Love to portray herself in a biopic about Curt Cobain. She’ll also be appearing in The Other Boleyn Girl (Feb 29), He’s Just Not That Into You (Aug 1), Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Mary Queen of Scots this year.

Upcoming Engagment Between Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds?

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are apparently about to announce soon that they’re engaged. Reynolds had previously been engaged to fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette.

Johansson has been picked to portray Courtney Love by Love herself, in a biopic about Nirvana lead singer Curt Cobain.

Reynolds is appearing in four movies this year: The Proposal, Adventureland, Fireflies in the Garden, and Definitely, Maybe.

Scarlett Johansson Portraying Courtney Love in Curt Cobain Biopic?

Love her or hate her, Courtney Love is a rock icon of sorts. Maybe because of her dead husband Kurt Cobain and band Nirvana, but still. The much-troubled Love, once a stripper whom some Nirvana fans feel was legitimized by him, has decided to executive produce a movie about Cobain. The movie is possibly based on an older biography about Cobain that Love detractors say was biased and inaccurate.

For the role of herself, Love has apparently asked Scarlett Johansson (The Black Dahlia, The Nanny Diaries) – who is rumored to have edged out Kirsten Dunst. Ryan Gosling is said to be playing Kurt Cobain. Not sure how I feel about Gosling, but I think Johansson is perfect for Love’s role.

Johansson will also appear in four films in 2008 (The Other Boleyn Girl, He’s Just Not That Into You, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Mary Queen of Scots) and one in 2009 (The Spirit). Love will appear as porn star Linda Lovelace in Lovelace (2008).
