Ryan Reynolds Cast as Green Lantern, Hal Jordan

Ryan Reynolds is quite the movie star, huh? His latest big screen win is being cast as Green Lantern/Hal Jordan, winning the role over Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake (or so it was rumored, anyway).

In addition to DC Comics’ Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds will star in a Deadpool spinoff of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The Hollywood Reporter mentions that Reynolds would be the first actor to play both Marvel comic book and DC comic book characters.

Ryan Reynolds’ “Entertainment Weekly” cover pics certainly got my attention – looking sexy in a snorkel, Ryan Reynolds shows off his amazing abs in this shirtless Entertainment Weekly June 25 cover picture.

Ryan Reynolds appears in four different cover shots on the Entertainment Weekly issue – channeling his inner Rambo and James Bond (see more pics after the jump).

Inside the issue, Ryan Reynolds tells Entertainment Weekly about being a sex symbol, saying it’s “Really embarrassing. I think I fear more than anything just sounding like a complete a-hole when I have to answer that question. If you take any of that seriously, you need to be euthanized, ASAP.”

Ryan Reynolds’ work as Deadpool in X-Men Origins has earned himself a spin-off. Hell, yes… having Ryan Reynolds star in his own Deadpool flick sounds all right.

Ryan Reynolds has the whole hot, muscle-ripped thing going for him, plus he’s got the wise-cracking chops for Deadpool too.

Apparently, the studio that produced Wolverine had the idea to create a Deadpool spin-off when they cast Ryan Reynolds.

“We are developing a spinoff with Deadpool, as well. It is one of the two different “Easter egg” scenes after the credits of WOLVERINE and hints at two different movies that are coming FROM THEM. One is the Japan backstory which was announced earlier, the other is about Deadpool. The film, which would be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, has Ryan Reynolds attached and would be a complete exploration of this unique character – his origins, his emergence as the Merc with with the Mouth, etc. We are looking for writers as well.”

Ryan Reynolds plans to run in the upcoming New York City marathon. But how will the uber-fit actor do in the race?

One things for certain – Ryan Reynolds fears the bleeding nipples that accompany marathon runs, writing in a Huffington Post entry:

“I saw guys coming in to finish with bleeding nipples. Why in the hell were their nipples bleeding? People were crying. People were limping, hobbling, screaming, crawling… I breathed in deeply and decided something: I’d never f—ing do that ever, ever. What in the f— were these idiots thinking? Bleeding nipples. Bleeding. Nipples.”

Ryan Reynolds is willing to bleed a little for the November 2 NYC Marathon, when he’ll run for Team Fox, in support of Michael J. Fox’s foundation that fights against Parkinson’s Disease.

Ryan Reynolds has a personal connection too – his father, Jim, has suffered with Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years.

“I’m running in The ING NYC Marathon as a member of Team Fox because I support the Foundation’s urgent mission and I believe that together we can improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s and put an end to this disease.”

No other details are known about Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynold’s wedding – it was apparently a very quiet affair.
