Here’s an interesting development. Amy Winehouse, who has an exceptional voice and has been looking healthy during a break from rehab, has been offered the chance to pen and perform the theme song for Bond movie #22, Quantum of Solace, which is currently shooting in London.
I know little about the film other than than current James Bond actor Daniel Craig says that the title is actually important to the plot. Oh that and that there might actually be two Bond girls: Olga Kurylenko (official) and Gemma Arterton (presumed), and that the new movie takes off from where Casino Royale left off.
Anyway, I think Winehouse will be perfect. (In fact, I can almost hear in my head a version of A View to a Kill by her.) But there’s one serious condition: she has to stay sober. Would that more celebs had this requirement. The only question I have, though, is that now that she’s moving in with the Osbournes, is she going to get any songs written with Ozzy around? I fear that either Winehouse might have to listen to Ozzy’s crazy stories about when he was still human. Or maybe end up doing a remake of Paranoid.
Olga Kurylenko, the new Bond girl in Quantum of Solace, is going to have a very physical role in the movie, unlike the Bond girls before her. She’s doing weapons and other training for aerial and stunt work.
The movie, which opens Nov 7th, is currently shooting at a soundstage in London, with around 500 cast and crew members working six days week. Many of the crew have worked on previous Bond films.
Kurylenko will also appear in Tyranny this year. The first video clip below is of her from Hitman (2007). She appears around just after 1:00. The second video clip is a slideshow of some of her lingerie modeling shots.

It sounds like the most un-Bond like story name I can recall, but it does sound fascinating. Say it with me: Quantum of Solace. That’s the name given to the 22nd Bond film, and it’s actually the name of a short story in Ian Fleming’s anthology “For Your Eyes Only”, from 1960.
The current James Bond, Daniel Craig, says “the title was meant to confuse a little… make you… wonder.” Craig first appeared as Bond in Casino Royale (2006), which is the highest grossing Bond flick ever ($300M). I stopped watching when Timothy Dalton became Bond, but I think it’s time to check out Daniel Craig, who currently appears in The Golden Compass. If Casino Royale did that well, Quantum of Solace has a good chance of being a top movie in 2008.
Quantum of Solace also stars Olga Kurylenko (Hitman) as the new Bond girl, Camille, and Gemma Arterton as Agent Fields, but whom some people are saying is a second Bond girl. Could be true: #22 = 2 Bond girls? Dame Judi Dench plays M.
The movie opens Nov 7 of this year.
