Acting Not So Glamorous: Javier Bardem Depressed From “No Country” Haircut?

Javier Bardem

Javier Bardem seems to have endured something very uncomfortable for the sake of his work as an actor. It seems that the haircut he was given (left) for his sadistic killer role in the award-winning No Country For Old Men caused him severe depression.

If you see regular pictures (right) of him, he’s very handsome. But for his No Country role, he’s kind of rough looking, even slightly creepy. He apparently disliked his look so much that, according to co-star Josh Brolin, Bardem thought “he wouldn’t have sex for three months” and stayed at home.

On the flipside, he’s dating lovely Penelope Cruz at the moment and will be in an on-screen threesome with her and Scarlett Johansson in Woody Allen’s upcoming Vicky Cristina Barcelona. (These two women will be making out as well.)

80th Annual Academy Awards – Best Picture Posters and Trailers

The following movies have been nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year. You might notice that three of five of the nominated movies are based on novels. Some or all of the movies were selected by the American Film Institute and won or were nominated for Golden Globes.

IMDB has the rest of the Academy Award nominations. The Academy Awards are not exempt from the WGA writers strike, so hopefully some independent deal will be resolved if the strike itself is not.

What’s your pick for best movie? Any other movies that should have been on the nominations list?
