No doubt, Freddy Krueger freaks my freak… and the movie poster for the updated A Nightmare on Elm Street, unveiled at Comic-Con, further cements my Freddy fears. The new Nightmare on Elm Street will feature Jackie Earle Haley in the Freddy role, and I’m thinking he’ll bring enough creep factor to get the job done.
A Nightmare on Elm Street will star Samuel Bayer, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Connie Britton, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, and Clancy Brown, and opens in theaters April 16, 2010.

So, a Nightmare on Elm Street remake is planned… but don’t expect original Nightmare director Wes Craven to have anything to do with it. Craven says he’s not interested in remaking the Freddie Krueger horror classic.
Wes Craven commented on the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, saying, “That’d be a tough one to re-see… If you move on from the films you’ve made – which I have tried always to move on – then it’s like, ‘That’s in the past. It’s had his life.’ If they make a better film, maybe it will eclipse the original. I don’t know. If they don’t, then the original will look even better.” Read the rest of this entry »
Actor Robert Englund says he will not play Freddy Kreuger in a remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, primarily because he feels he’s too old to do it. Big Picture Radio proposes a way to get around this.
Englund will appear in a thriller (Red) and a couple of horror comedies (Zombie Strippers, 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys) this year. The video clip below is the trailer for the original Nightmare on Elm Street.
