Nicole Kidman baby bump watch! Nicole Kidman looked stunning — and finally looked pregnant — at the 2008 Academy of Country Music Awards. She was there to support hubby Keith Urban.
NicoleKidman and Keith Urban have revealed that their pet names for each other are Evie and Hank, respectively. That is the origin of their otherwise mostly unknown clothing label, Hank Evie. Originally, they sold only concert T-shirts but now they’ll be selling belt buckles, clothing, shoes, bags, boxer shorts and pyjamas. Kidman is already getting big bucks to endorse Chanel No. 5 perfume and a Nintendo computer game for Europe.
Kidman recently admitted to being pregnant, which resulted in Kate Winslet replacing her in the upcoming movie The Reader (Dec 12). The movie Australia (Sep 5) is already in post-production. No word yet on 2009’s Need.
Kidman is also working on Australia this year, and for 2009, Need, and The Lady from Shanghai. No word on whether she’ll drop out of these or whether they’ll be delayed. Maybe this is why she was initially denying being pregnant? It must play havoc with contracts. (Though Julia Roberts was three months pregnant when she did the bikini scene in Charlie Wilson’s War.)
The Golden Compass stars NicoleKidman (Mrs. Marisa Coulter), Daniel Craig (Lord Asriel) and Dakota Blue Richards (Lyra Belacqua). Sir Ian McKellen offers some voice work. It’s directed by Chris Weitz (American Pie 1 and 2, producer; About a Boy, writer; ), who also adapted the screenplay from Philip Pullman’s novel of the same name.
As you might already know, The Golden Compass is a subject of controversy in the Catholic Church, with the highest authority, the Pope himself, calling it a “godless” movie. It seems to have shown some early promise then tanked in North America, but is doing well overseas.
I have to say that while I have a copy of the book from years ago, I haven’t read it. But the movie’s story – which supposedly toned down the religious elements – struck me as being very odd, and I think I can see why the Pope calls it “godless”. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s not nice to talk about this sort of thing, but hey, we are a “movie gossip site”. Nicole Kidman, currently starring as a villainess in The Golden Compass, is delightedly pregnant. While she was still married to Tom Cruise, they had adopted two children. Rumors were that one of the pair were infertile and that this may have precipitated their divorce. But she did in fact have an ectopic pregnancy, which was only revealed shortly after the divorce.
Since then, both have remarried – he to Katie Holmes, she to country and western singer Keith Urban. (Urban, believe it or not, is born in New Zealand and has an NZ accent. Didn’t know they had C+W singers there.). Never mind that the baby Katie Holmes gave birth to – Suri – doesn’t really look like Cruise or Holmes. But Kidman is no doubt happy, and if this is why Cruise divorced her, then she’s vindicated.
Kidman is currently working on Australia and The Reader for 2008, and Need and The Lady from Shanghai for 2009. The video clip is an unofficial trailer from Australia.
