The New Moon reviews are in! And, it seems, critics are giving the Twilight Saga New Moon some mixed reviews. No worries though – if you’re a Twilight fan, no bad critiques are going to keep you from seeing the next installment.

Here is an overview of just some of the New Moon reviews… if you’ve seen it, please leave a comment about what you thought.

Metacritic.com has Twilight New Moon reviews scoring an average of 45 out of 100, based on 27 critic reviews, while RottenTomatoes.com gives New Moon 29% on the Tomatometer. Ouch!

MTV, Larry Carroll: “A triumph for Twilighters.”

Entertainment Weekly, Lisa Schwarzbaum: “Fan-ready and saga-solid.”

Variety, Jordan Mintzer: “Carried by Kristen Stewart’s compellingly dark performance, but also by helmer Chris Weitz’s robust visuals.”

The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Rechtshaffen: “Once again, the three young leads give committed performances, with Lautner’s character allowed a larger share of the spotlight this time around.”

USAToday, Claudia Puig: “The werewolves have it all over the blood-suckers in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. When these oversize, hirsute creatures burst onto the screen, they inject life into a rather inert story.”

Boston Globe, Ty Burr: “Where the first film’s director, Catherine Hardwicke, plugged into Meyer’s vision of supernatural teenage lust with abandon, Chris Weitz is stuck with a sequel that’s a morning-after mope-fest.”

Rolling Stone, Peter Travers: “Ever since “True Blood” glamoured me, Twilight seems even more sexless and toothless. I prefer my undead with a little life in them.”

New York Post, Kyle Smith: “New Moon is supposed to be an exciting love story plus monster action. So where’s the excitement? Where’s the action?”

Chicago Sun-Times, Roger Ebert: “The Twilight Saga: New Moon takes the tepid achievement of “Twilight,” guts it, and leaves it for undead.”

Where the Wild Things Are reviews are coming in, and so far… so good. For the most part.

Director Spike Jonze is under the microscope of the critics and and fans of Maurice Sendak’s beloved children’s book, so some may be scrutinizing Where the Wild Things Are more than others.

Metacritic.com has given Where the Wild Things Are an average of 70 (generally favorable reviews) based on 32 critics reviews, while RottenTomatoes.com has the film resting at 67% on the Tomatometer.

Here’s a rundown of some of the critics reviews for Where the Wild Things Are:

Sara Vilkomerson, NY Observer: “This one is certainly not going to be for the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs crowd. I can’t imagine any young kid seeing it, not just because parts of it are dark and kind of scary, but because I can’t imagine any small fry having the attention span to stick with it.”

Lisa Schwarzbaum, EW: “Profoundly beautiful and affecting, Where the Wild Things Are is a breath-
taking act of artistic transubstantiation. From Maurice Sendak’s beloved picture book about a rambunctious little boy named Max and the kingdom of untamed creatures who adopt him as their like-minded king, filmmaker Spike Jonze has made a movie that is true to Sendak’s unique sensibilities and simultaneously true to Jonze’s own colorful instincts for anarchy. This is, to quote the 1963 children’s classic, ‘the most wild thing of all.’”

Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune: “Not since Robert Altman took on “Popeye” a generation ago, and lost, has a major director addressed such a well-loved, all-ages title. This time everything works, from tip to tail.”

Manohla Dargis, The New York Times: “With Where the Wild Things Are Jonze has made a work of art that stands up to its source and, in some instances, surpasses it.”

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times: “The movie felt long to me, and there were some stretches during which I was less than riveted. Is it possible that there wasn’t enough Sendak story to justify a feature-length film?”

Todd McCarthy, Variety: “Director Spike Jonze’s sharp instincts and vibrant visual style can’t quite compensate for the lack of narrative eventfulness that increasingly bogs down this bright-minded picture.”

Metacritic.com gives Watchmen a score of 57 out of 100, based on reviews from 38 critics. Some Watchmen review highlights:

Kyle Smith, New York Post – Score 100: “Director Zack Snyder’s cerebral, scintillating follow-up to “300″ seems, to even a weary filmgoer’s eye, as fresh and magnificent in sound and vision as “2001″ must have seemed in 1968, yet in its eagerness to argue with itself, it resembles “A Clockwork Orange.”"

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times – Score 100: “It’s a compelling visceral film — sound, images and characters combined into a decidedly odd visual experience that evokes the feel of a graphic novel. It seems charged from within by its power as a fable; we sense it’s not interested in a plot so much as with the dilemma of functioning in a world losing hope.”

Richard Corliss, Time – Score 80: “Watchmen has moments of greatness. It proves again that the action movie is where the best young Hollywood brains have gone to bring flesh to their fantasies.”

Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly – Score 67: “Even Watchmen fanatics may be doomed to a disappointment that results from trying to stay THIS faithful to a comic book.”

Devin Gordon, Newsweek – Score 40: “Speaking as an admirer, but not an apostle, of the graphic novel, I thought the Watchmen movie was confusing, maddeningly inconsistent and fighting a long, losing battle to establish an identity of its own.”
