The X-Files: I Want to Believe
Things are heating up for the new X-Files movie — including a title, finally! Looks for “The X-Files: I Want to Believe” when it hits theaters July 25.

Director and co-writer Chris Carter commented on the title, saying, “It’s a natural title. It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. ‘I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”

Plus it’s the phrase in the famed poster from Mulder’s office (seen in the photo above).

MovieCrunch Box Office Top 10 – Mon Mar 03, 2008

0

March 3rd, 2008 by Jon Roth

Tagged as: Movie News

Of the movies that opened in wide-release over the weekend, Semi-Pro topped the charts. The Other Boleyn Girl only made it into 4th place. Penelope, which was in limited-release, made it to 8th place. (While I watched Boleyn Girl this weekend and really liked it, it’s AA rating really weakened it. As Richard Roper said, an NC-17 rating would have been better. Me, I think an R-rating would have gotten more adults out to see it.)

  1. [-] Semi-Pro. Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, Andre Benjamin.
  2. [1] Vantage Point. Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker, Matthew Fox.
  3. [3] The Spiderwick Chronicles. Freddie Highmore, Sarah Bolger, David Straithairn.
  4. [-] The Other Boleyn Girl. Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Eric Bana.
  5. [2] Jumper. Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Bell.
  6. [4] Step Up 2 The Streets. Robert Hoffman, Briana Evigan.
  7. [5] Fool’s Gold. Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Donald Sutherland.
  8. [-] Penelope. Christina Ricci, James McAvoy, Reese Witherspoon.
  9. [+] No Country for Old Men.
  10. [8] Juno. Ellen Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman.

Vantage Point is still doing well at #2. Despite being panned by critics for all the “plot coincidences”, this is a really exciting, thrilling movie. It did lack a little something something, but it was a hell of a lot better than Jumper (a big fat disappointment, but still had moments of thrill – just not as much as it should.)

No Country for Old Men managed to nudge its way back into the top 10, very likely due to its sweep in the Academy Awards a couple of weekends ago.
