Michael Douglas to Play Liberace; Steven Soderbergh to Direct

Michael Douglas is taking on a decidedly more flamboyant role – Douglas will play Liberace in an upcoming biography of the performer, directed by Steven Soderbergh. Matt Damon will play Liberace’s lover.

Soderbergh told a French newspaper, “We’ve already done some costume and wardrobe tests on Michael, and they’re very, very, very good. I swear to you, Michael amazed me. He crushed it.”

Michael Douglas Devastated by Son’s Drug Arrest; Douglas Makes Statement

Michael Douglas is devastated by his son Cameron’s drug arrest, as he expresses in a family statement. Michael Douglas released the following statement: “The family is devastated and very disappointed in Cameron’s recent behavior. Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be.”

Michael Douglas issued the statement on behalf of himself and Cameron’s mother, Diandra Luker.

Michael Douglas is devastated about Cameron’s arrest for possession of methamphetamines with the intent to distribute, for which he faces between 10 years to life in prison.

Cameron’s girlfriend made matters worse when she smuggled heroin concealed in an electric toothbrush, as Cameron Douglas had asked her to do, violating his home detention. A private security company was watching him, found the drugs and alerted authorities.

Cameron is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City.

Cameron Douglas Arrested for Meth; Michael Douglas’ Son Busted

Michael Douglas’ son, Cameron Douglas, was arrested July 28 on a methamphetamine-dealing charge in New York by a DEA task force, according to the Associated Press.

Cameron Douglas, 30, who was arrested at the Hotel Gansevoort in Manhattan, is facing a meth dealing charge.

Michael Douglas has yet to comment on his son’s arrest.

Cameron Douglas was previously charged with cocaine possession in 2007.

Wall Street Sequel Planned; Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps

Does this seem like a good idea? The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Fox will revisit the film Wall Street, with a sequel titled “Money Never Sleeps.”

So, will Michael Douglas return to reprise his role as Gordono Gekko in Wall Street 2? If the script is right, Douglas is considering the project. Michael Douglas won an Oscar for Wall Street.

No details yet on the plot for Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, who will direct or star in the feature.

Michael Douglas to Play Liberace in Steven Soderbergh Film

Steven Soderbergh is currently developing a movie based on the life of pianist Liberace. Michael Douglas will play Liberace in the biopic.

Steven Soderbergh is reportedly in talks with Matt Damon to play Scott Thorson, who sued Liberace for $113 million in palimony in 1982. Thorson claimed to be Liberace’s companion for five years.

Liberace died from AIDS complications in 1987; he was 67.
