Michael Douglas to Play Liberace; Steven Soderbergh to Direct

Michael Douglas is taking on a decidedly more flamboyant role – Douglas will play Liberace in an upcoming biography of the performer, directed by Steven Soderbergh. Matt Damon will play Liberace’s lover.

Soderbergh told a French newspaper, “We’ve already done some costume and wardrobe tests on Michael, and they’re very, very, very good. I swear to you, Michael amazed me. He crushed it.”

How much more Jason Bourne can you handle? Well, Daily Variety is reporting that Matt Damon will return in yet another sequel to “Bourne Identity” – the fourth installment in the popular amnesiac assassin franchise.

Last year’s third film, “The Bourne Ultimatum” did such booming business, it only makes sense that they’d return for a fourth Robert Ludlum thriller.

Matt Damon Runs Escape to Miami Triathlon

Matt Damon made a surprise appearance Sunday morning when he ran in the Escape to Miami Triathlon.

According to Matt Damon, “‘My brother talked me into it.” His brother, Kyle Damon, finished in 27th place, with a time of 2:23:40.

Matt Damon ran in the Escape to Miami Triathlon with a team that included his stepfather Jay Jones and family friend Barry Hetherington.

Matt Damon finished his 6.2-mile portion of the challenge in 59 minutes, 54 seconds.

Michael Douglas to Play Liberace in Steven Soderbergh Film

Steven Soderbergh is currently developing a movie based on the life of pianist Liberace. Michael Douglas will play Liberace in the biopic.

Steven Soderbergh is reportedly in talks with Matt Damon to play Scott Thorson, who sued Liberace for $113 million in palimony in 1982. Thorson claimed to be Liberace’s companion for five years.

Liberace died from AIDS complications in 1987; he was 67.

Matt Damon, Wife Luciana Welcome Baby Girl: Gia Zavala Damon

Matt Damon’s wife Luciana has given birth to a baby girl. The couple welcomed Gia Zavala Damon on Wednesday, according to the Damons’ spokeswoman.

Matt and Luciana Damon’s spokeswoman also commented, “Everyone is great and she is a healthy, beautiful baby girl.”

The couple have a daughter, Isabella, who was born in June 2006.

According to Matt Damon’s rep, Jennifer Allen: “They couldn’t be happier. They’re so excited!”

Matt and Luciana Damon have one child together: Isabella, born in June 2006. Their daughter Alexia, 9, is Luciana’s child from a previous marriage.
