Marlon Wayans has been cast as the star in the upcoming G.I. Joe. It’s funny because I keep reading how this or that actor/ actress has been “assigned” to G.I. Joe, which is not the wording used for Wayans. So maybe he’s looking forward to the role. Now, I don’t see much hope for this movie, but Wayans might just be ideal for pulling in some DVD sales after the theatrical run. Or I could be wrong, in this current period of TV rehashing.

Tell me, exactly why is anyone making this movie? Has Hollywood run out of scripts again? This has nothing to do with the WGA writer’s strike. At least, G.I. Joe might be better than the wretched White Chicks that Marlon and his brother Shawn were in, which another brother, Keenen Ivory Wayans, directed. Don’t get me wrong; I have much respect for the Wayans, having been a fan of the fun SNL-like TV series Living Color. But while all four brothers are handsome and charismatic, Damon and Keenen are the more talented older brothers. Though the Scary Movie franchise was a lot of stupid good fun.

G.I. Joe is scheduled to open Aug 7th, 2009, with Sienna Miller playing The Baroness, and Rachel Nichols (Charlie Wilson’s War) as Shana O’Hara.
