OK, I’ve died and gone to heaven — Billy Crudup is joining the cast of “Public Enemies,” starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. Can you think of a more talented (and beautiful) lineup of guys?

Heath Ledger passed away before finishing the movie, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” but the movie resumed filming yesterday and will be finished with the help of Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell.
“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” director Terry Gilliam said that he hopes it will “touch people’s hearts and souls as Heath was able to do.” Read the rest of this entry »

Here’s one movie rumor that sounds fun — a sequel to “Tron” — in 3-D!

If Johnny Depp does fill in for Heath Ledger in his last film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, there’s apparently a way to make it work. The story has a magic mirror through which ledger’s character falls, and he could change into another character, portrayed by Johnny Depp. It’s being directed by Monty Python alumni Terry Gilliam, and his brand of moviemaking suggests that such a plot device could work.
Ledger had already finished work as The Joker for Batman: The Dark Knight. However, Warner Bros. is unsure of the marketing campaign at this point. This movie is currently scheduled for release on July 18.
Scarlett Johansson isn’t just a talented actress, she’s also a singer with a beautiful voice. Her debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, comes out May 20th. Except there’s only one original track. The other ten songs are covers of Tom Waits songs. But if you listen to her great lounge singer voice in the video clip below, and if you are familiar with Tom Waits, I think you’ll agree that her voice is ideal as any for Tom Waits covers.
Johansson was recently asked by Courtney Love to portray herself in a biopic about Curt Cobain. She’ll also be appearing in The Other Boleyn Girl (Feb 29), He’s Just Not That Into You (Aug 1), Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Mary Queen of Scots this year.

Johnny Depp donated a million Pounds to a hospital. Depp, whose eight-year old daughter Lily-Rose was sick, tried to anonymously donate GBP1,000,000 (Pounds) to Great Ormond Street Hospital, after they saved her life. Depp also had previously dressed as his Captain Jack Sparrow character (from Pirates of the Carribean) and read bedtime stories to patients. He also invited several nurses and doctors to the London Premiere of Sweeney Todd.
No wonder Depp topped the list of highest paid actors. His generosity also shows when he signs autographs. The irony is that at the world premiere of Pirates of the Carribean 3, he apparently didn’t sign any autographs. (See video clip below.)
Christian Bale is joining Johnny Depp in the upcoming Public Enemies. [Reuters] The movie is scheduled to open sometime in 2009 and is directed by Michael Mann, who wrote the screenplay based on Bryan Burrough’s book about 1930s gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd.
Bale is the hot actor these days. This year he’ll be appearing in The Dark Knight – one of this year’s hot movies – which is the sequel to Batman Begins. In 2009, he’s also in Killing Pablo and Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Is there any role he can’t do?
Johnny Depp will be in several other movies in 2009: Shantaram and The Rum Diary. He’s also rumored to be in Sin City 2 and Sin City 3.
Funnyman Jim Carrey was one of the first actors to reach the $20M-per-picture mark (plus points), but he hasn’t been the only one for a few years now. In fact, he’s not even the top earner. Warner Bros’ ExtraTV reports that Johnny Depp made $92M between Jun 2006 and Jun 2007, thanks mostly to Pirates of the Carribean. Following closely are Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
Depp is currently acting and singing in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street with Helena Bonham Carter, which appears to be getting mixed reviews. Many critics love it, but bloggers seem to hate it. He has no movies for 2008 as of yet but will appear in at least three in 2009 (Public Enemies, Shantaram, The Rum Diary) and might appear in Sin City 2 and Sin City 3.
I guess Depp understands the value of being the best autograph signer: be nice to your fans and you just might get returns in the box office. Hopefully he also consciously realizes that his fans just love to see him in really dark roles where he wears makeup and wigs that give him a sort of goth appeal.
Johnny Depp has been declared tops on the “Best Hollywood Signers” list by Autograph magazine. Will Ferrell made #1 in the “worst signers” list.
Depp currently appears with Helena Bonham Carter in Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which is directed by Tim Burton (Carter’s husband).
