Movies Opening Today – Jan 18, 2008
Pick of the week: Well, for me, there’s not much I want to catch. 27 Dresses is reputedly too stereotyped, despite Katherine Heigl’s talent. Cassandra’s Dream is directed by Woody Allen and stars Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. I go counter to most critics; I only like maybe two Allen films in total. Mad Money, despite the stellar cast and director, is reputedly really poor (1996’s Set It Off is probably a better Latifah flick). Cloverfield is the movie with the really big buzz, but a better horror choice might be The Orphanage (which opened last week), despite the subtitles. Then there’s Teeth, a horror comedy starring Jess Weixler and John Hensley (Nip/Tuck), that also opens today. But to tell you what it’s about gives the story away. Just see Teeth’s IMDB page. Or the poster above. Or the trailer below
