uSA Today posted this first look at Mickey Rourke as Whiplash in next summer’s Iron Man 2. Check out the picture of Rourke above, where we get some idea of how the Russian villain will face off against hero Iron Man.

Director Jon Favreau says of Whiplash’s suit: “The technologies are definitely related, and that’s part of the core theme of the film,” saying Whiplash “has constructed his own version of a suit.”

Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke Cast in Iron Man 2

It’s official – Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke have been cast in Iron Man 2, opposite Robert Downey Jr. As previously rumored, Scarlett Johansson will take on the role of Black Widow, while Mickey Rourke has been cast as Russian villain Whiplash.

Iron Man 2 is scheduled for a May 2010 release, and will co-star Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle as Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes.

Samuel L. Jackson hit the movie jackpot – not only will he return in the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, but Jackson just signed a deal to play Nick Fury in nine other Marvel movies.

Upcoming Marvel movies in the works include Captain America, Thor, The Avengers and The Shield.

Scarlett Johansson to Co-Star as Black Widow in Iron Man 2?

The latest Iron Man 2 casting rumor is that Scarlett Johansson will replace Emily Blunt in the role of Black Widow in the sequel.

Emily Blunt was originally signed on to play the part in Iron Man 2, but her filming schedule for Gulliver’s Travels with Jack Black conflicts with the filming on Iron Man 2.

Until Blunt drops out, Scarlett Johannson is waiting in the wings.

Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell to Play Villains in Iron Man 2?

Mickey Rourke is definitely making a comeback since his amazing turn in The Wrestler – he and the equally amazing Sam Rockwell are in talks to play villains in “Iron Man 2.” Woah – Rourke, Rockwell, Don Cheadle and Robert Downey Jr.? Sign me up.

While specific details of their villainous roles are not known, Rourke is rumored to play a Russian named Ivan who becomes Whiplash, who has deadly coils.

Sam Rockwell would appear as Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman – and naturally – rival of Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Iron Man 2 is expected to hit theaters on May 7, 2010.

Mickey Rourke will next be seen in “The Informers” and just joined the cast of “The Expendables,” starring Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren (wow, remember him?!).

Sam Rockwell was last seen in “Choke” and “Frost/Nixon.”
