In non-surprising movie box office news, Miley Cyrus’ Hannah Montana: The Movie was the big winner over the weekend. Disney’s tween hit scored $34 million for the weekend.

Hannah Montana: The Movie beat the competition by a mile(y) – Fast and Furious earned $28.8 million, while Monsters vs Aliens took in $22.6million.

Miley Cyrus to Star in Disney Movie Written by Nicholas Sparks

Nicholas Sparks, the man behind “The Notebook,” is currently writing a screenplay for Disney, starring Hannah Montana herself, Miley Cyrus.

Nicholas Sparks is writing the as-yet-named novel as well as creating a screenplay adaptation for the Disney film.

And, keeping it all in the family, Miley Cyrus’ mom (Tish Cyrus) will be exec producer the film.

No plot details for the new Miley Cyrus film have been revealed yet, but the book is expected in the fall of 2009.

Nicholas Sparks also wrote “A Walk to Remember” and “Message in a Bottle.”

Teen country singing sensation Taylor Swift is planning to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” starring Miley Cyrus. Taylor Swift will appear in a bar seen in the film.

“Hannah Montana: The Movie” will open in May 2009.

Taylor Swift said of the role: “I’m making a cameo, so I’m so excited about that. I’m playing one of my own songs and just in the background of one of the scenes. I’m just like the bar band, which is kinda fun.”

Hannah Montana Movie Accident – Equipment Hits Ferris Wheel (Video)

A scary accident happened during yesterday’s filming of the Hannah Montana movie in Tennessee — a piece of lighting equipment blew into a Ferris wheel full of people.

The Hannah Montana Ferris wheel accident left several extras injured and from the video footage after the jump, looked like a pretty scary incident.

Miley Cyrus had finished filming a scene next to the Ferris wheel when high winds blew the lighting equipment piece into the ride, where cables hit people and injuries occurred.

Hannah Montana Movie: Casting Extras in Nashville!
