Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny turned out for Wednesday’s premiere of the new X-Files movie, “The X Files: I Want To Believe” at Mann’s Grauman Chinese Theatre. And neither of them look too thrilled.
As if we needed another reason to flock to the movie theater July 25 to see The X-Files: I Want to Believe – David Duchovny is promising that their will be “some skin” for fans to enjoy.
In the July 14 issue of TV Guide, David Duchovny says their initial script reading “was more sentimental than our actual reunion” because “I realized that Gillian and I have changed over the years, but when you start reading these people, they haven’t. They are the same and they feel the same way about each other.” Read the rest of this entry »
Frenzied X-Files fans are foaming at the mouth for the X-Files 2 movie (The X-Files: I Want to Believe) to hit theaters July 25th. Here’s another X-Files 2 movie trailer to check out. Read the rest of this entry »
Pop Candy blogger Whitney Matheson reported a number of things from New York’s Comic Con, among them, some updates she got from The X-Files movie panel.
Unfortunately, not too many details were given out, with director/writer Christ Carter and writer/producer Frank Spotnitz commenting that “there are just too many opportunities for spoiler sites to ruin our fun.”
The New York Comic Con X-Files movie panel did provide this update: the movie, titled “I Want to Believe,” will take place in the present day (six years after the end of the series) and will focus on Mulder and Scully.
You’d think they could have thrown X-Files fans a few more clues, right?
Things are heating up for the new X-Files movie — including a title, finally! Looks for “The X-Files: I Want to Believe” when it hits theaters July 25.
Director and co-writer Chris Carter commented on the title, saying, “It’s a natural title. It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. ‘I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”
Plus it’s the phrase in the famed poster from Mulder’s office (seen in the photo above).

Yes, another shaky look at the new X-Files movie — this is the latest trailer video taken at yesterday’s Paley Festival X-Files panel. Lots o’ juicy tidbits there, but movie goers must wait until July 25.
Update: Easy come, easy go. The trailer was pulled from YouTube shortly after posting this.
Update, Part Two: E! posted this YouTube clip of the X-Files 2 Movie – the actual trailer begins around 2:50.
X-Files TV series (and one movie) creator Chris Carter has revealed that the second movie is coming. He’s directing, and David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively. What will be different is that there won’t be any alien conspiracy theories (and not because alien lizards have taken over Hollywood). Carter is aiming at potential fans who were turned off by that sub-plotline, so the sequel will focus on paranormal events.
No word yet if Mitch Pileggi will play Walter Skinner, or if William B. Davis will be back as the Smoking Man (he’s a spokesman for the Canadian Cancer Society, believe it or not). Other appearances include Amanda Peet, Callum Keith Rennie, Xzibit, a hilariously filthy-mouth Scottish comedian Billy Connolly.
Now given that this film releases July 25th, it’s a bit surprising so little info has been revealed until now. The still above is from the new movie. The clip below is a fan trailer (the release date is July 30th, not June 19th).
