George Clooney as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan?

There’s a buzz in the air that George Clooney is interested in playing the latest incarnation of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan whenever the character comes to the big screen again.

The Daily Beast includes this tidbit about Clooney in the role:

“Clooney also appears to be looking for his next commercial opportunity now that the Ocean’s franchise seems to be played out. A source says he expressed interest in playing Jack Ryan when and if Paramount attempts to revive the Tom Clancy series. Clooney seems to recognize that at this time in the world and this time in his life (he’s pushing 50), it’s time for some commercial maintenance.”

Alec Baldwin was the original Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October, while Harrison Ford played Jack in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger; Ben Affleck took on the role in The Sum of All Fears.

George Clooney can’t help but be funny – even if it is while he’s doing a serious vlog from Darfur. George Clooney is seen in this video (NBC calls it their “Clooney cam”) talking about his stay in Chad, when his serious comments during a bathroom tour go quirky and he starts ranting about his haircut. Then comes the Andy Rooney impersonation.

Good stuff, George.

15,000 George Clooney Fans Show up for Extras Casting

George Clooney brings the crowds, it seems. Clooney will be shooting Up in the Air in the St. Louis area, and the casting folks did a call for extras – 15,000 people showed up!

Of the 15,000, only 2,100 will be chosen to be extras on Clooney’s flick, earning $56.40 per day.

George Clooney, Sarah Larson Break Up

Could it be true? In Touch Weekly is reporting that George Clooney and former cocktail waitress Sarah Larson have broken up after nearly a year of dating.

An In Touch Weekly insider says “George is relieved to be single again. He thinks Sarah is sweet and that is why it was so hard to break up with her. The truth is that they had little in common and he just doesn’t want to be tied down.”

Naturally, George Clooney’s rep is staying mum about the possible break with Sarah Larson, saying, “I can only confirm that we have never commented on George’s personal life.”

George Clooney Denies Reports of Godfather to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Child

George Clooney is knocking down reports that he’ll serve as godfather to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s fifth child (or is it fifth and sixth? remember, twin rumors are circulating!).

George Clooney denies the godfather reports, but he did plant the seed awhile back by jokingly mentioning that he had been asked by Brangelina. According to George Clooney’s rep, “He was just having a joke.”

Honestly, don’t you all know better? George Clooney is famous for his pranks and joking good nature.

John Kraskinski commented on working with big names Renee Zellweger and George Clooney, saying, “On my first day filming, I was terrified. Renee immediately saw that and she calmed me down by getting me to talk – because I wasn’t breathing very well. They always remember their first day and that’s what makes them great stars.”
