Kung Fu Panda 2 Sequel Coming to Theaters 2011

Jack Black will reprise his role as Po in the Kung Fu Panda sequel – Kung Fu Panda 2 will hit theaters in 2011.

DreamWorks Animation SKG announced plans for the Kung Fu Panda sequel, which will be produced witih 3-D technology. Jack Black will voice Po for Kung Fu Panda and Angelina Jolie is expected to return as the voice of Tigress.

Kung Fu Panda will be released on DVD on November 9.

Tom Cruise Will Not Voice Villain in Shrek 4

The latest Tom Cruise rumor has been debunked – Tom Cruise will not voice a villain in the latest installment of Shrek (”Shrek Goes Fourth”).

The buzz has been flying for the past couple of weeks that Tom Cruise would lend his voice to Shrek 4, but his rep says, “As of today, there is no truth to the Tom Cruise-Shrek 4 rumor.”

“Shrek Goes Fourth” is expected to hit theaters in 2010 and will feature the voices of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy.

Robert Downey Jr., Tina Fey in Talks to Voice DreamWorks’ “MasterMind”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Robert Downey Jr. and Tina Fey are in negotiations to provide voice talent for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming film, “MasterMind.”

“MasterMind” is a superhero spoof, centered on a super villain in search of a new motivation when he accidentally kills his archrival in the opening scene. What’s a superhero to do without an archrival to battle, after all?

“MasterMind” is being produced by Ben Stiller’s production company, Red Hour Films, and is scheduled for a November 5, 2010 release.

DreamWorks Animation’s “How to Train Your Dragon” March 2010 Release

The popular children’s book “How to Train Your Dragon” is getting the big screen treatment.

“How to Train Your Dragon” will include the vocal talent’s of America Ferrerra, Gerard Butler, Superbad’s Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Knocked Up’s Jay Baruchel.

“How to Train Your Dragon” is scheduled for a March 26, 2010 release.

Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Colbert Join DreamWorks’ “Monsters vs. Aliens”

DreamWorks Animation’s newest installment is called “Monsters vs. Aliens” and they have cast some big-time stars to provide the vocal talents.

Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Stephen Colbert, Seth Rogen, Rainn Wilson, Kiefer Sutherland and Paul Rudd will all be part of “Monsters vs. Aliens,” produced in Ultimate 3-D technology.

Variety magazine said this of the “Monsters vs. Aliens” plot:

“Story, which reinvents the classic ’50s monster movie as a modern-day action comedy, centers on California girl Susan Murphy (Witherspoon), who is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk and mysteriously grows to 50 feet tall. She is captured and held in a secret government compound. The world learns that the military has been quietly rounding up other monsters over the years, including the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D. (Laurie) and the macho half-ape, half-fish the Missing Link (Arnett).”

The rest of the cast goes like this:

Seth Rogen plays B.O.B., an indestructible goo (think the Blob)
Stephen Colbert plays the president of the United States
Rainn Wilson, as evil alien Gallaxhar
Kiefer Sutherland plays General W.R. Monger
Paul Rudd as Susan’s fiancé, Derek

Sadly, we’ve got a bit of a wait for this — “Monsters vs. Aliens” is expected to be released in March 2009.
