
News broke this morning that legendary actor Paul Newman is dead at age 83. Paul Newman lost his battle with cancer and died Friday at age 83.

Legendary actress and dancer Cyd Charisse died today from an apparent heart attack – she was 86.
Cyd Charisse starred in musicals during Hollywood’s Golden Age, in MGM Studios’ Singin’ In The Rain (1952), Brigadoon (1954), The Band Wagon (1953) and Silk Stockings (1957). A sad day for fans of Oscar-winning visual effects artist Stan Winston — the special-effects genius died yesterday after suffering from cancer. Stan Winston was 62.

Legendary actor Charlton Heston passed away last night, April 5, at his Beverly Hills home – he was 84 at the time of his death.
Charlton Heston was a classic film actor, winning the 1959 best actor Oscar for “Ben-Hur,” and starring in “The Ten Commandments,” “El Cid,” “55 Days at Peking,” “Planet of the Apes” and “Earthquake,” among many other films.

The legendary Richard Widmark died at age 93 on Monday, following a long illness. Richard Widmark was best known for his Oscar nominated turn as psychotic killer Tommy Udo in the 1947 film “Kiss of Death.”
Richard Widmark also appeared in more than 60 movies during his career, including a role as Jim Bowie, opposite John Wayne, in The Alamo (1960). Read the rest of this entry »
Frank Capra, Jr., president of EUE/ Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington, Delaware, and son of the director Frank Capra, died mid last week at age 73 of prostate cancer. His father, Frank Capra, Sr. (d. 1991), is probably best known for what is arguably the best Christmas movie ever, 1946’s It’s a Wonderful Life (starring the legendary Jimmy Stewart, d. 1997).
Capra, Jr., has been in the movie business since 1959 but went into it reluctantly. He moved to Wilmington in 1983 while producing Stephen King’s Firestarter and ended up settling there. His son Frank Capra III went into the business much more eagerly. He’s first assistant director on The Bucket List (Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman), which opens Dec 25th.
Firestarter starred David Keith, Drew Barrymore, Heather Locklear, Martin Sheen, George C. Scott, Art Carney. The video clip below is from the movie but is set to Prodigy’s song Firestarter.
