Not sure how necessary the next installment of RoboCop is, but Darren Aronofsky has been signed on to direct a new RoboCop movie, with David Self tapped to write the script.

Darren Aronofsky has directed Pi, Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain. David Self wrote Road to Perdition.

The new RoboCop is set to hit the big screen in 2010.

The original RoboCop premiered in 1987 and starred Peter Weller: “Part Man, Part Machine, All Cop.”
