Dr. Suess’ “The Lorax” is getting the big screen treatment – as Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are working on development of a 3-D CG animated version of The Lorax.
With the “green” theme of The Lorax, it continues to be relevant as a message for protecting the environment.
The Lorax is scheduled to hit theaters on March 2, 2012.
Put this on your calendar – Walt Disney Pictures is releasing Pixar’s Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D for two weeks in October. You can check out the double feature beginning on October 2 – for now, watch the movie trailer video for the special Toy Story 3D release.
Paramount studios is developing a movie adaptation of the book “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH,” which originally hit the big screen in 1982’s animated “The Secret of NIMH.”
The children’s book, which received the Newbery Medal in 1972, is about a mouse who moves her family and finds a group of former lab rats who have advanced techonology in their evolved society. Read the rest of this entry »

News of a big screen version of the cartoon classic Hong Kong Phooey should be exciting to me – it was one of my Saturday morning faves – but yet another cartoon heading to the big screen seems uninspired.
The Hong Kong Phooey movie will bring the story of the Hanna-Barbera animated TV series to the big screen with both live-action and animation.
The Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas went down over last week and in a closed-door meeting, Disney/Pixar told buyers that a sequel to Monsters Inc is in the works. Disney fanatic Jim Hill, who was in attendance at the event, got the news first-hand from insiders at the secret session.

Check out this exclusive Hulu video clip of the talking dog scene from Pixar’s upcoming “Up.” If this small clip is any indication of the whole film, it looks like it’s another huge hit for Pixar.
Holy mother of Pixar! Disney announced at ShoWest that both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will be released on October 2 as a 3-D double feature – for two weeks only.
The orginal plan was to re-release these in theaters separately, but instead Disney is going with the Toy Story films in a limited double feature format.
Now the question is… how much are tickets going to cost for the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 3-D double header?
