A couple of days ago, comedienne Sarah Silverman did a video (below) with Matt Damon, intended for her boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel, the late-night TV host. In the video, Silverman says, “I’m f***ing Matt Damon.” The video is apparently payback from Damon to Kimmel. If you watch Jimmy Kimmel, you probably already know why. I only ever watch the last 7-10 minutes of Jimmy Kimmel, and at the very end, he thanks all his guests then finishes off with “Sorry to Matt Damon. We ran out of time.” Or something like that. Every night, for however long he’s been doing it (at least a year). It gets kind of tired after awhile, and maybe Damon felt that way too and decided it was payback time.
Damon will also appear in Margaret this year. In 2009, he’s in Green Zone, The Human Factor, and The Informant.
Robert De Niro is the latest celebrity to openly support Senator Barack Obama as the Democratic presidential candidate.
De Niro will be in What Just Happened? and Righteous kill this year. In 2009, he’s in Frankie Machine and a video game version of Heat.

Actor Barry Morse (seen standing behind David Janssen above) has died at the age of 89. His long career started in 1942, in The Goose Steps Out, and his last role was in the TV movie Icon in 2005. He was probably best known for his role from 1963-67 as Lt. Philip Gerard in The Fugitive TV series, in which he spent most of his time chasing Dr. Richard Kimble (played by David Janssen). Morse also had extended roles in other series such as The Adventurer and Space: 1999. Morse also directed and wrote for a small handful of TV series and movies. His career, which included theatre and radio, spanned seven decades.
The video clip below is from The Fugitive’s series finale.

Twenty-six year old Ben Barnes only started his professional acting career in 2006, in an episode of the TV series Doctors, but he’s already getting credited for several movies. (Though he did appear as a performer, under the moniker Hyrise, on Making Up Your Mind and Liquid News, both in 2004.)
His first movie was Stardust, but he’s getting recognized for his appearance as Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. It’s the second movie in the series, based on the third book in the classic fantasy novel series by C.S. Lewis. It opens May 16th. Barnes will also be in the followup, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010, as well as Bigga Than Ben (2008) and Easy Virtue (2009).
Something’s in the air this past week. Not one but at least five celebrities – including several actresses – have been hospitalized, put in/ entered rehab, or a psych ward.
- Eva Mendes entered rehab in Utah.
- Sean Young entered rehab after heckling Julian Schabel during the SAG Awards, after she was over-served alcohol.
- Britney Spears the UCLA psych ward, went ballistic and was declared “GD” (Gravely Disabled).
- Amy Winehouse was hospitalized and put on a drip, possibly as an aid to getting off her crack addiction. (Winehouse’s husband, who is in jail, recently said that he gave her three months to live if she didn’t wise up. And her mother said that Amy could be dead within the year.) Hopefully she’ll be well for the Grammy Awards (Feb 10).
- Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers was also at UCLA psych ward, was treated and checked out. (His rep claims exhaustion and a sleeping disorder, but I think he saw how much money his Grey’s Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl gets for her crappy movies and lost it.)
Add to all this the rumors that Kirsten Dunst might be on the verge of a breakdown. Though it might have to do with her ex Jake Gyllenhaal reportedly ready to propose to Reese Witherspoon.
Don’t know if this is it, but January does tend to contribute to depression. But poking fun or not, I hope they all get well.
Wesley Snipes was found guilty of three misdemeanors for not filing tax returns for three years. He was cleared on the more serious charges including conspiracy to defraud, but could still spend up to three years in prison. Originally, he had a potential sentence of sixteen years if he’d been convicted of all charges. While the U.S. Attorney had thought there was evidence for conviction on all charges, the jury felt differently.
Nicolas Cage, an excellent actor and also nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola, says he’s tired of being in blockbuster movies.
One of my frustrations is I have no control. I haven’t worked in a while, and it will be eight months before I start my next picture… I wonder if I am still interesting to watch.
I think you are, Nic, and it’s your versatility to be in different kinds of movies that I enjoy. I mean, it works for Will Smith, so why not you? (But Kathleen Turner doesn’t like you much.)
