Here’s a new one – bubble gum comic strip character Bazooka Joe may be the star of his own movie. Michael Eisner and his Tornante Company have selected Mark Hammer to write a movie based on the famed Bazooka bubble gum comic.

Bazooka Joe has been wrapped up in bubble gum since the 1950s – the eye-patched Joe has adventures with friends Pesty, Mort, Toughie, Hungry Herman, Jane and a dog named Walkie Talkie.

Eisner purchased the Topps trading card company in 2007 for $380 million, so the movie tie-in makes sense.
