The fabulous character actor Robert Prosky, seen in roles in “Hill Street Blues,” “Dead Man Walking” and “Mrs. Doubtfire” has passed away. Prosky died in a Washington hospital Monday night; he was 77.

Robert Prosky’s death was the result of complications from a heart procedure.

Robert Prosky was also a stage actor, appearing in more than 200 plays on Broadway and with Arena Stage in Washington. Prosky had roles in 38 films and numerous television shows.

Prosky appeared in “Hill Street Blues” and “The Practice” on television, and in films, had roles in “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Dead Man Walking,” “Rudy,” “Hoffa” and “The Natural.”
